This weekend was full of excitement -- most of it was good!  On Friday Mom and I played together a lot.  Later, when I was ready for my afternoon nap, Mom had to go to that place where she changes her nail color and her hair color.  She talked on the phone a lot that night telling her friends that her hair was red!  I hope she doesn't want to change MY fur color!  I don't think I would like the smelly stuff that she puts on at home sometimes.

Today was really fun, because Mom and I were playing with all my toys.  We play a game where we both crawl around and look for all the play mice and balls and stuff that is hidden (Mom says "lost" but I always know where they are!) behind shelves and inside closets and stuff.  I put the toys there so that I can find them later and play new games, but Mom likes to get them out!  She calls it cleaning.  I guess it's kind of fun, though, when we crawl around and play with all the toys at once.  That is why I help her.

Tonight though, Mom's friend came over to help her and he brought a VACCUUM!!  I think everyone reading this knows that the VACCUUM is no friend to cats!  Mom said that "it's okay, Dori, we just need to clean the vents," and that is what they did.  But I went to my safe place anyway.  There is no telling what the loud noises and the big machine will do!  Luckily, it only took a little while for Mom and her friend to finish doing their work!  After that I crawled onto Mom's lap for petting time.  Our house is quiet now, and her friend took the vaccuum back to his house!  Good riddance!  I am going to sleep in one of my favorite houses.  Here is a picture Mom took last time I was sleeping in there:

I've Been Working Hard!

A little bit of updating first!  Over the weekend when Mom was sick (she slept, like ALL of both two days ... more than I do!), I had the time to add stuff to my blog (so fun!  i LOVE having this thing!).  If you feel like exploring a bit, take a look to the right of the posts; you will find there a link to my favorite cat charity, freekibblekat.com!  it's a great site, developed by a 12-year-old human girl (thanks, human girl!!).  you just go there, answer a fun trivia question about cats, and whether you get it wrong or right, the site donates 10 pieces of nutritious, organic kibble to cats in shelters (some to other cats in need too).  Don't hold it against them, okay, but the site actually started out as free kibble for dogs only!!  Can you even IMAGINE??  Dogs don't even NEED kibble, strictly speaking!  Dogs will eat ANYthing when the going gets tough, from what I've seen, whereas we cats have far more discriminating taste and truly NEED our cat-specific meals!! ... Okay, because I do have a neighbor friend who is a beagle (hi Roxy!) as well as some old dog friends from my own shelter days ... so, I'm making a joke, mostly :)  I hope you will do what my mom does and play the freekibblekat game and then just click over to feed hungry shelter dogs too!  That brings up one more point:  This charity, and any others with the same kind of focus, are really special to my heart (Mom's too!), because I was raised in a shelter!  Maybe when we are farther along in our blog friendship, I will tell you more about my early life there ... but suffice to say that Mom and I got together when I was almost ONE years old!  I spent lots of time relying on shelter kibble.

Also new to my layout is the Blog List of all my cat friends that also chronicle their lives!!  I hope to meet more cats -- and even dogs -- while reading and writing in the blog world.

So glad that Mom let me get my own blog!!!  OH, and PS, I know that everyone likes to see a lot of pictures on most animal and pet blogs, so don't worry!  We have a ton and are always taking more!!  I'll be posting stuff about my day (photos as well as words) soon!

We Have Lift-Off!

If you're reading this, it means you came back to my blog ... so thanks!  It took awhile for me to get it up and running, but now that it is, expect updates and photos to follow soon!  I have a few talented cat-pals who keep blogs too; look for my blog roll to, er, roll out in the next day or so.  My mom has always done blogs and kept journals, so she is kind of showing me the way.  But after that, it's hands-off and paws-only!  This cat has stories to tell!  --Dorian
